Engineering Manager, Cloud Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• **What you'll do**

• Take the lead on the architecture, performance, and scalability of our Node.js-based platform, primarily hosted on AWS. Although our applications are currently deployed on AWS, they are crafted to be hyperscaler-agnostic, and you will ensure that architectural choices maintain this flexibility across GCP, Azure, and other cloud providers. You will be responsible for the technical direction of the platform, mentor senior engineers, and collaborate with product and engineering leadership to deliver high-quality systems efficiently.

• Additionally, you will oversee a team of 10–15 developers, setting objectives, conducting 1:1 meetings, fostering career growth, hiring new talent, and eliminating obstacles. You will strike a balance between roadmap delivery and engineering health, focusing on code quality, system reliability, on-call practices, and the overall developer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• **What we're looking for**

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 3 years in leadership roles managing engineering teams.

• Extensive knowledge in architecting distributed systems on AWS, covering compute, networking, data management, IAM, and observability.

• Strong background in Node.js and a clear perspective on creating maintainable services at scale.

• Experience in designing platform-agnostic systems capable of operating on any major hyperscaler.

• Proven history of enhancing performance, scalability, and deployment speed in production settings.

• Demonstrated ability to nurture engineers, make strong hiring decisions, and lead a team that consistently delivers results.

• **Nice to have**

• Familiarity with multi-cloud or cloud-portable deployments, including Kubernetes, Terraform, and containerization.

• Experience in scaling SaaS platforms or products aimed at developers.

• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer.
