This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Lead and oversee a team of 4–8 engineers within a specific product area or domain.
• Take ownership of team delivery outcomes, encompassing roadmap execution, reliability, and quality.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Design to convert business priorities into actionable technical plans.
• Drive cycle planning, estimation, and accountability for delivery.
• Eliminate obstacles and resolve dependencies across teams.
• Ensure the team strikes a balance between speed and long-term maintainability.
• Maintain visibility into system health, performance metrics, and risk factors.
• Provide consistent 1:1 coaching and constructive feedback to each team member.
• Conduct performance evaluations, career development planning, and growth discussions.
• Recruit, interview, and onboard new engineers as the team expands.
• Foster an environment of psychological safety while upholding high standards.
• Mentor engineers on ownership, system design, and execution discipline.
• Address performance challenges early and in a constructive manner.
• Escalate risks and clearly communicate trade-offs to leadership.
• Contribute to improvements in organizational processes and initiatives related to engineering culture.
• A minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of experience directly managing engineering teams.
• Required hands-on keyboard involvement for 50-80% of the time.
• Experience in leading teams consisting of at least 4 engineers.
• Proven track record of delivering complex software projects on time.
• Strong foundation in system design principles and architectural decision-making.
• Experience collaborating with Product and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Demonstrated capability to mentor and develop engineers at various levels.
• Ability to balance the pressures of delivery with the long-term technical health of the team.
• Experience navigating uncertainty and establishing clear direction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High emotional intelligence with a knack for managing conflicts constructively.
