This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Collaborate closely with a small team of engineers, guiding both the technical direction and the individuals involved.
• Establish clarity, consistency, and momentum within your squad.
• Set strategic direction, maintain high standards in both delivery and quality, and balance immediate objectives with long-term sustainability.
• Invest in team members through coaching, constructive feedback, and development, while nurturing a positive team culture.
• Communicate effectively at all levels, manage complexities, and pursue continuous growth as a leader.
• Take ownership of the technical decisions made by the squad and ensure they align with the company's technical strategy.
• Define team objectives and ensure that proposed work aligns with these goals.
• Identify and implement necessary practices to ensure security and meet operational service level objectives (SLOs).
• Collaborate with the Product Manager and the team to establish objectives and key results (OKRs) that align with company goals.
• Measure team performance for continuous improvement.
• Ensure the squad is equipped with the necessary technical skillsets to achieve objectives while developing team members' skills.
• Familiarity (experience is a plus) with our core technology stack: gRPC, GraphQL, React, Kafka, Docker & Kubernetes; experience with Go is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in taking responsibility for technical decisions and ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
• A solid understanding of engineering practices with the ability to identify areas for improvement.
• Proven experience in defining team goals and driving prioritization to achieve them.
• Ability to collaborate with Product Managers to set OKRs that align with company objectives.
• Capability to co-lead annual and quarterly planning processes.
• Experience in early risk identification and mitigation strategies.
• Familiarity with security practices and achieving SLOs.
• Proven ability to drive operational excellence and lead metrics reviews.
• Experience managing a team of engineers.
• Demonstrated ability to onboard, train, develop, and mentor team members, as well as participate in performance calibration and promotion reviews.
• Intermediate understanding of customer and market insights.
• Ability to communicate strategic objectives to the squad.
• Experience in fostering a healthy team dynamic and resolving interpersonal conflicts.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional colleagues.
