Engineering Manager

📋 Description

• Team Leadership: In collaboration with the Senior Director of Engineering, you will cultivate, mentor, and lead a high-performing development team responsible for Sysdig's next-generation Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) product.

• Execution & Delivery: Convey team priorities, establish development tasks that align with larger organizational objectives, and take ownership of planning and tracking sprint deliverables.

• Cross-Functional Execution: Propel high-visibility, strategic initiatives at the company level, ensuring alignment between product, security, and infrastructure teams to successfully complete projects.

• Dependency & Constraint Navigation: Skillfully manage intricate cross-team dependencies, alleviating timeline shifts and engineering bandwidth restrictions without compromising quality.

• Customer & Stakeholder Diplomacy: Serve as a vital technical liaison for stakeholders and customers, transparently managing expectations when requirements, timelines, or scopes fluctuate.

• Next-Gen AI Workflows: Advocate for and accelerate our transition to a fully Claude Code-based development workflow, promoting team adoption of AI-native engineering for swift feature development, refactoring, and code understanding.

• AI-Driven Automation: Design and implement automated pipelines utilizing Claude Code for autonomous testing, continuous maintenance, code review support, and boilerplate generation, significantly enhancing team velocity.

• Architecture & Design: Steer the design of multitenant, cloud-native data processing microservices focused on high resilience and performance.

• Hands-on Engagement: Remain actively involved by reviewing code produced by the team and contributing with hands-on coding as needed to eliminate obstacles in achieving milestones.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including 4+ years in a role managing or leading software engineering teams in distributed system environments.

• Cross-Functional Track Record: Demonstrated experience in leading initiatives across multiple departments, adept at resolving bottlenecks and facilitating execution within matrixed organizations.

• Rigor under Constraints: Outstanding project management and scoping abilities; capable of maintaining delivery rigor despite fluctuating variables, resource limitations, and competing corporate priorities.

• Stakeholder Communication: Proficient in conveying updates and resolutions clearly, with the skill to manage sensitive customer commitments while establishing realistic, data-driven expectations.

• AI-Native Engineering: Background in pioneering AI-assisted engineering, specifically using Claude Code (or similar LLM-driven command-line interfaces/agents) to streamline development, debugging, and operational workflows.

• DevOps & Delivery: A proven history of defining modern development best practices, emphasizing advanced DevOps, continuous production delivery, and automated CI/CD pipelines.

• Technical Domain Expertise: Solid knowledge in designing scalable, high-performance, event-driven, and streaming data-processing microservices.

• Experience in constructing high-availability, fault-tolerant platforms and reusable cloud components.

• Hands-on experience with at least one public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerized environments utilizing Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.

• High proficiency in software development using one or more core programming languages (e.g., Golang, Java, .NET, C#).
