This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• You will lead the engineering team at the core of sofatutor's learning platform.
• You will collaborate directly with a Senior Product Lead, Content Leads, and a Staff Engineer, taking responsibility for both the team and delivery.
• You will be accountable for the structure, leadership, and development of the engineers in the team, with a clear focus on results, quality, and sustainable delivery.
• You will coach engineers both technically and personally, fostering a collaborative and motivating team culture.
• You will work closely with Product, Design, Content, and Technical Leaders on the roadmap, prioritization, and implementation.
• You will continuously enhance workflows, agile rituals, and quality standards.
• You will ensure that technical decisions, dependencies, and risks are transparent.
• You bring experience in hiring and in the professional development of software engineers.
• 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager with leadership responsibility for 5+ engineers in agile software teams.
• Proven experience in hiring, onboarding, and developing engineers—coaching, feedback cycles, and growth frameworks.
• Solid hands-on background in larger web development projects; experience with Ruby on Rails and/or JavaScript is a plus.
• Sufficient technical depth to engage in architecture discussions and assess code quality competently.
• Strong understanding of software development processes, testing, deployment, and modern delivery culture.
• Genuine enthusiasm for AI in engineering and the pragmatism of implementing it in practice.
