This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.
• Lead, mentor, and nurture an engineering team within the Pay Pillar.
• Cultivate a culture centered around continuous learning, personal development, and transparent communication to boost team engagement and performance.
• Actively engage in the recruitment, onboarding, and establishment of a diverse and inclusive team.
• Deliver strong technical leadership, ensuring adherence to best practices, scalability, and maintainability in all solutions.
• Collaborate closely with the Principal Engineer to effectively prioritize and tackle technical challenges.
• Contribute directly when necessary—reviewing code, assisting with system design, and directing the team in constructing complex distributed systems.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineering teams to provide cohesive, high-quality solutions.
• Advocate for the observability strategy, ensuring that service level objectives (SLOs) are established and achieved.
• Implement comprehensive monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve system issues.
• Lead the execution of essential technical projects, ensuring timely delivery while upholding quality standards.
• Provide regular updates to the Senior Engineering Manager regarding progress, strategy, and team challenges that require assistance.
• Over 2 years of proven impact in a similar leadership position, managing direct reports at scale.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong expertise and 5 years of professional experience in object-oriented software design (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Ruby).
• Experience in designing scalable and resilient solutions, preferably within the fintech sector.
• Ability to collaboratively lead the evolution of team strategies, establishing clear roadmaps and goals and delivering them in a healthy, predictable, and sustainable manner.
• Comfort in coaching team members, clearly communicating expectations, and providing frequent individual feedback.
• A strong track record of fostering close working relationships with product counterparts and external stakeholders (including payment providers or third-party solutions), inspiring and motivating teams while enhancing quality and productivity, all while maintaining technical innovation and excellence.
• A strategic thinker with the capacity to articulate and share ideas in meaningful ways within a fast-paced and evolving environment, demonstrating a high degree of autonomy.
• Experience managing Agile teams and driving improvements across the entire development process.
• Background in developing and supporting engineers in their personal growth and career advancement, fostering an environment where communication, teamwork, and collaboration are recognized and rewarded.
• A strong focus on quality while enhancing efficiency, delivering value, and minimizing waste.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
