Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• The primary emphasis of this position is on managing people, while also possessing sufficient technical expertise to lead a highly skilled team and product.

• Recruit, manage, and cultivate a team of engineers, offering ongoing feedback and assisting each individual’s development through career discussions.

• You will serve as a project manager and collaborate with product owners to ensure the product roadmap is clearly defined and kept up-to-date.

• With a robust technical background, you will engage in technical discussions and encourage teams to make strong technical decisions independently.

• You will be at ease working with engineering teams that value autonomy in their decision-making, whether it pertains to technical or product matters.

• Occasional interaction with customers will take place, as most of our clients are large companies utilizing Mimir to oversee their operations.

• While excelling in interpersonal skills and managing relationships, you stay informed about the latest technical trends and changes to enhance your understanding of the challenges faced by your teams.

• Ideally, you possess a degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience from working as an engineer prior to transitioning into Management.

• Our development is conducted in Go, we are Cloud Native, and deploy on Kubernetes across all Cloud Service Providers using Helm and Jsonnet. Familiarity with Kubernetes and Helm is beneficial, while knowledge of distributed systems is appreciated.

• A seasoned people manager, skilled in coaching senior engineers to advance their careers through engagement in complex projects while supporting our operations.

• A proactive self-starter with a strong inclination toward action and ownership, capable of navigating ambiguity and propelling work forward in intricate problem areas.

• Comfortable collaborating across different time zones and cultures in a fully remote setting, using clear and empathetic communication to foster trust, connection, and psychological safety.

• Experienced in mentoring and supporting fellow engineers, leading initiatives or small teams, and collaborating effectively to achieve successful project outcomes.

• Proven ability to handle complexity, align stakeholders, and elevate team performance to deliver significant, high-quality results.

• Deeply customer-oriented, consistently basing decisions and technical choices on user needs and real-world implications.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, production-readiness, and observability.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted tools is essential. We embrace AI and agentic development, so we expect you to be curious and comfortable using AI-powered tools, ideally with practical experience integrating them into a team’s workflow.
