This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• The primary emphasis of this role is on managing people, while also possessing sufficient technical expertise to oversee a highly skilled technical team and product.
• Hire, manage, and nurture a team of engineers, offering consistent feedback and facilitating each individual's development through career discussions.
• You will serve as a project manager and collaborate with product owners to ensure that the product roadmap is well-defined and current.
• With a strong technical foundation, you will be capable of engaging in technical discussions and encouraging teams to reach robust technical decisions independently.
• You will be comfortable collaborating with engineering teams that value autonomy in their decision-making processes, whether technical or product-related.
• Occasional interaction with customers will take place, as most of our clients are large corporations utilizing Mimir to oversee their operations.
• While excelling in interpersonal skills and relationship management, you also stay informed on the latest technical trends and developments to enhance your understanding of the challenges faced by your teams.
• Ideally, you will possess a Computer Science degree or equivalent experience gained from working as an engineer prior to transitioning into management.
• Our development is conducted in Go, we are Cloud Native, and we deploy on Kubernetes across all Cloud Service Providers utilizing Helm and Jsonnet. A conceptual understanding of Kubernetes and Helm is beneficial, and knowledge of distributed systems is valued.
• A seasoned people manager with the ability to coach senior engineers to advance in their careers by engaging in complex projects while supporting our operations.
• A proactive self-starter with a strong inclination towards action and accountability, capable of navigating ambiguity and advancing work in complex problem areas.
• Comfortable collaborating across various time zones and cultures in a fully remote setting, employing clear and empathetic communication to foster trust, connection, and psychological safety.
• Experienced in mentoring and supporting fellow engineers, leading initiatives or small teams, and working collaboratively to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Proven ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and enhance team performance to deliver significant, high-quality results.
• Strongly customer-focused, consistently basing decisions and technical choices on user needs and real-world implications.
• Solid comprehension of distributed systems principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, production-readiness, and observability.
• Comfort with AI-assisted tools. We embrace AI and agentic development, so we seek individuals who are curious and at ease using AI-powered tools, preferably with practical experience incorporating them into a team's workflow.
