Engineering Manager

📋 Description

• - **Product & Technical Leadership** – Collaborate with Product and Design to define and monitor OKRs, ensuring they align with strategic objectives. Maintain a balance between feature development and the resolution of technical debt while enhancing system health within a well-structured Agile framework. Facilitate the thoughtful integration of AI tools to efficiently produce secure, high-quality engineering solutions at scale.

• - **Technical Oversight** – Lead technical discovery initiatives, review design and architecture decisions, and engage in development as needed to support the success of the team.

• - **Team Development** – Mentor and nurture engineers across various levels of experience through regular one-on-one meetings, career development plans, and structured feedback. Promote a culture of engagement, ownership, and technical excellence.

• - **Cross-functional Collaboration** – Partner closely with Product and Design teams to ensure technical viability, uphold high standards of quality, and deliver impactful solutions.

• - **Engineering Standards & Best Practices** – Contribute to the definition and implementation of engineering standards across teams, ensuring consistent quality, performance, and reliability.

• - **Operational Excellence** – Track and maintain engineering health metrics (SLOs, error rates, cycle time, operational costs) to drive improvements in processes, system performance, and reliability.

• - **Incident Management & On-call Processes** – Supervise incident responses and post-mortems, ensuring effective resolutions and long-term solutions for recurring issues.

• - **Continuous Improvement** – Advocate for enhancements in development workflows, testing methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and overall engineering efficiency.

• - **Engineering Leadership Experience** – Demonstrated experience in leading a team of engineers in a high-growth or complex product setting, emphasizing mentorship, team development, and cultivating a robust engineering culture.

• - **Customer Focus** – Possess a deep understanding of our customers, engage in product strategy, and prioritize creating exceptional solutions that support our largest clients.

• - **Scalability & System Design** – Profound knowledge of designing, constructing, and maintaining scalable web applications, APIs, and distributed systems, preferably in a SaaS or cloud-based context.

• - **Technical Expertise** – Comprehensive understanding of contemporary backend and frontend technologies, system performance optimization, and architectural best practices for high-traffic applications.

• - **Balancing Business & Engineering Priorities** – Capability to make strategic trade-offs between feature development, technical debt, and operational enhancements, and to present a clear, data-driven business rationale for decisions made.

• - **Cross-functional Collaboration** – Experience collaborating closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to align on objectives, manage dependencies, and deliver high-quality solutions.

• - **Operational Focus** – Familiarity with monitoring, incident response, and maintaining service reliability at scale, including engagement with SLOs, observability platforms, and cost efficiency optimization.

• - **Process & Best Practices** – Knowledge of contemporary software development workflows, including CI/CD, testing strategies, and iterative improvement of engineering processes.

• - **Strong Communication & Influence** – Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• **Bonus Skills (Nice to Haves)**

• - Proficiency in React, Typescript, Python, and Postgres, or similar technologies is a significant advantage.

• - Experience in a high-scale SaaS or cloud-based environment.

• - Practical experience with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD and cloud infrastructure.

• - Familiarity with observability tools, monitoring, and error tracking.

• - A passion for fostering a strong engineering culture centered on ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
