This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and Oversee Engineering Teams: You will take charge of the team’s processes, delivery, and execution, ensuring they operate efficiently and maintain high standards.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Customers: Work together to develop your team’s roadmap, ensuring alignment on priorities that fulfill both business objectives and customer expectations.
• Offer Technical Direction: Although coding may not be your daily task, you will evaluate PRs, architecture, and design documents, providing technical mentorship and insights to guarantee the delivery of high-quality solutions.
• Manage Team Performance: You will be accountable for your team’s performance, proactively identifying and addressing any challenges. Provide timely and actionable feedback to facilitate continuous improvement.
• Mentor for Development: Assist engineers in reaching their full potential by nurturing a growth mindset and creating tailored development plans.
• Own and Enhance Engineering Processes: We prioritize the streamlining and enhancement of processes. You will establish team objectives and elevate the technical standards throughout the company, fostering a culture of ongoing feedback and transparency.
• Lead Recruitment and Talent Development: Engage in every phase of hiring, onboarding, and retaining top talent, contributing to the rapid expansion of our team.
• Address Challenges Proactively: At Clipboard, “We don’t have any toes to step on.” If you identify a problem, you take ownership and resolve it.
• Participate in Open Discussions: Anticipate transparent, open forums where feedback is encouraged and bring your curiosity to engage in first-principles thinking.
• Over 6 years of software development experience, with a minimum of 2 years in leadership roles such as Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or Founder.
• Proven experience managing agile, high-performing teams in dynamic, geographically diverse settings.
• Expertise in Performance Management: Comfortable tackling performance challenges directly and providing coaching that empowers engineers at all levels.
• Customer-Focused Problem Solver: A strong understanding of customer needs, with the ability to convert vague issues into actionable solutions.
• Excellent Communication Skills: You are proficient in both written and verbal communication, simplifying complex ideas for engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike.
• Hands-On Development and System Design Experience: While your focus is mainly on leadership, you maintain technical expertise and experience in system design and coding.
• Skilled at Navigating Difficult Conversations: You are decisive and direct, capable of delivering constructive feedback and addressing issues promptly.
• Experienced in Team Development: Adept at hiring, onboarding, and retaining top talent to create high-performing teams.
• Collaborative Approach: Equally comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment across all levels.
