This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of one of Atticus’s product pods and report directly to the VP of Engineering.
• Be responsible for the team's well-being and the output it produces.
• Create an ambitious roadmap and actively drive efforts to realize it.
• Lead a cross-functional team comprising 4–6 engineers, a PM, and a designer, all focused on common objectives.
• Cultivate team culture and establish effective processes.
• Foster the professional growth of team members.
• Remain actively engaged in daily technical tasks.
• Review pull requests, contribute to architectural discussions, and delve into technical specifics alongside peers.
• Potentially engage in consumer product experimentation, lawyer matching, machine learning systems, attorney tools, or AI-driven legal products.
• You have managed a team of at least three engineers for over a year.
• You have successfully nurtured engineers, including both senior individual contributors and those at the beginning of their careers.
• You are capable of having difficult performance discussions when expectations are not met.
• You have experience working in a high-performing product environment, collaborating with strong PMs and designers.
• You understand the importance of engineers owning product outcomes.
• You have thrived in ambiguous situations with limited resources, whether in a startup or by navigating within a larger organization.
• You have been actively using AI coding tools in your work over the past year.
• You are hands-on: you write code, review it, and have strong opinions about system architecture.
• Experience in hiring and leading engineers during rapid team expansions is a plus.
• Familiarity with Go, TypeScript, Next.js, Temporal, or GCP is advantageous.
• A background in an industry characterized by complex professional workflows, such as legal, healthcare, or financial services, is preferred.
