This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop and expand a high-performing team by strategically hiring to address skill gaps as the team evolves.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and create an environment that enables your team to excel and contribute effectively to the business.
• Establish direction and oversee the technical strategy for AI agents and downmarket products, ensuring long-term value that aligns with Vanta's business goals.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and AI platform teams to deliver customer-facing AI features that automate audit processes while preserving human-in-the-loop controls.
• Advocate for best practices in applied AI, including prompt engineering, RAG, agentic frameworks, and quality assessment.
• Effectively navigate rapid changes and uncertainties with adaptability, rapidly iterating on roadmaps as the team's mission and direction shift.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience managing technical teams comprising 4-8+ engineers.
• A proven history as a strong individual contributor prior to moving into a management role, with hands-on experience in applied AI.
• Extensive knowledge in developing LLM-backed products, including experience with prompting, RAG, agent frameworks, and quality hill-climbing.
• Experience in dynamic, startup environments; having a founder background or Y Combinator experience is a significant plus.
• Strong adaptability and comfort with ambiguity; capable of quickly iterating on roadmaps without excessive attachment as priorities shift.
• Excellent collaboration and influencing abilities across engineering, product, design, and cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with Vanta's technology stack (TypeScript, React, Node.js) or a willingness to learn quickly.
• Open to leveraging AI to enhance their skills and improve their work—showing curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly for greater efficiency and impact.
