Engineering Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Establish and expand a high-performing engineering team.

• Manage daily engineering operations: sprint execution, technical quality, and capacity management.

• Promote technical excellence through architecture choices, code quality, DevOps/GitOps practices, and production reliability.

• Act as the main escalation point for technical obstacles, inter-team dependencies, and delivery risks.

• Collaborate with the SVP on recruitment, team growth, vendor partnerships, and strategic initiatives.

• Oversee capacity across multiple workstreams (platform development, migrations, and feature enhancements). Ensure that commitments are both realistic and achieved.

• Direct technical design evaluations and architectural decisions.

• Establish and uphold engineering standards: including code reviews, branching strategies, CI/CD, testing, documentation, and incident management.

• Ensure that production systems adhere to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

⛳️ Requirements

• 5 to 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform engineering roles.

• At least 3 years of experience leading engineering teams (including hiring, performance management, and accountability for delivery).

• Hands-on experience with a modern data stack: cloud data warehouses (preferably Snowflake), transformation frameworks, and orchestration tools.

• Proven history of executing complex data platform projects, such as migrations, consolidations, and new builds.

• Experience working in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments.

• Ability to review code, troubleshoot production issues, and make informed architectural decisions.
