This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Assist in maintaining precise and efficient coding processes to improve operational effectiveness.
β’ Accountable for coding diagnoses and procedures specifically for emergency department cases.
β’ Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes for patients in the emergency department.
β’ Ensure accurate charge assignments utilizing ASAP software within the EPIC (CareConnect) system.
β’ Efficiently and accurately abstract all coded data to fulfill state and national reporting obligations.
β’ An associate degree in Health Information Science, a bachelorβs degree in Health Information Management, or completion of coursework in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding.
β’ COC, CPC-H, or CCS certification is mandatory.
β’ A minimum of one year of experience in emergency department coding and charging.
β’ Expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT-4/HCPCS, and the application of modifiers.
β’ Familiarity with APC payment methodologies, AHA Coding Clinic, and CPT Assistant.
β’ Capability to train and orient new employees and students.
β’ Comprehension of state and national reporting standards.
β’ Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
β’ Proficient in using Microsoft Office and EPIC (CareConnect) systems.
