Electrical Power Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Develop and assist in the planning activities for electrical power substations and sites to meet the needs of facilities, utilities, and process equipment.

β€’ Assess site power capacity, distribution methods, equipment configurations, and interface requirements to ensure safe and dependable electrical service.

β€’ Collaborate with mechanical, process, controls, civil, manufacturing, and project delivery teams to coordinate electrical planning inputs.

β€’ Create technical documentation, including design criteria, calculations, sketches, equipment specifications, and planning packages to facilitate design and implementation.

β€’ Aid in reviews concerning constructability, maintainability, safety, quality, and compliance with codes for electrical power infrastructure and site utility systems.

β€’ Recognize electrical risks, design limitations, long-lead equipment requirements, and integration challenges that could impact project costs, timelines, or performance.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Proven experience in electrical power distribution, substation planning, site electrical infrastructure, or facility power systems.

β€’ Practical knowledge of electrical design principles, load planning, equipment sizing, grounding, one-line diagrams, and coordination with utility or facility power systems.

β€’ Capability to support multidisciplinary engineering design packages and effectively communicate technical requirements across project teams.

β€’ Strong grasp of electrical safety, relevant codes, standards, quality expectations, and configuration control requirements.

β€’ Ability to operate in a highly technical, safety-focused environment while supporting complex government or industrial projects.

β€’ Preferred Qualifications

β€’ Experience in supporting projects related to DOE, NNSA, nuclear, laboratory, industrial chemical, manufacturing, or other highly regulated facilities.

β€’ Familiarity with medium-voltage distribution, substations, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, emergency power systems, or power system studies.

β€’ Experience in coordinating electrical infrastructure for specialized process equipment, high-temperature systems, or advanced energy applications.
