Electrical Estimator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Review and analyze architectural, electrical, and construction drawings.

• Evaluate project specifications to determine electrical installation needs.

• Assess materials, labor requirements, and installation considerations.

• Highlight any missing information, inconsistencies, and potential risks associated with the project.

• Create comprehensive cost estimates for commercial electrical and rehabilitation projects.

• Calculate material quantities, labor needs, and related project expenses.

• Complete material take-offs and delineate project scopes.

• Generate precise pricing breakdowns for evaluation and approval.

• Identify possible cost variations, omissions, and areas that need clarification.

• Analyze project documents to define the complete scope of electrical work.

• Keep organized estimating spreadsheets, calculations, and supporting documents.

• Revise estimates when drawings or project requirements are modified.

• Collaborate directly with the US-based business owner to discuss project specifications.

• Clarify estimates, assumptions, calculations, and pricing.

• Raise inquiries and resolve uncertainties prior to finalizing estimates.

• Communicate progress and identify challenges that may impact estimating timelines or accuracy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Prior hands-on experience as an Electrical Estimator or Construction Estimator with a solid background in electrical projects.

• Strong capability to read and interpret electrical and architectural drawings.

• Good understanding of electrical materials, installation techniques, and construction processes.

• Experience in calculating material quantities, labor costs, and project estimates.

• Familiarity with material take-offs and cost breakdowns.

• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to work independently and handle estimating tasks with minimal supervision.

• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel or similar tools.

• Experience with comparable estimating software is appreciated.

• Background in commercial electrical contracting is a plus.

• Experience estimating electrical rehabilitation, renovation, or refurbishment projects is beneficial.

• Familiarity with US electrical construction projects, drawings, and estimating practices is advantageous.

• Previous work experience with US-based electrical contractors is a plus.

• Understanding of electrical bidding processes and project costing is beneficial.

• Experience collaborating directly with business owners or smaller contracting teams is an advantage.

• Formal qualifications are advantageous, but practical electrical estimating experience, technical knowledge, and the capacity to deliver precise work are of utmost importance.
