Electrical Engineer – Substation Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Execute specific and limited segments of broader tasks under the guidance of experienced engineers.

• Collect and relate basic engineering data following established protocols.

• Undertake detailed or routine engineering tasks that involve calculations and relatively straightforward tests.

• Suggest methods to address new challenges.

• Detect inconsistencies in results.

• Offer mentorship to entry-level engineers.

• Conduct work within defined budgets and timelines with moderate oversight.

• Design utility-scale electrical substations, focusing on physical substation design.

• Contribute to projects in the power-delivery sector.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 2 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

• Proficiency in high voltage substation design.

• EIT Certification.

• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation.

• Professional engineering license or the capability to obtain one within 2 years of employment (preferred).

• Familiarity with construction practices and constructability.

• Background in proposal writing and project estimation.

• Understanding of scheduling and project control processes.

• Awareness of industry and technology trends related to substations.

• Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, and NESC codes and standards.

• Proficient in MS Office, including Word and Excel.

• Strong verbal communication and technical writing abilities.

• Capacity to pay close attention to detail and assess work quality.

• Ability to apply sound engineering judgment.

• Competency in managing time and workload effectively.

• Strong familiarity with the NEC and National Electrical Safety Code.

• Must be eligible for employment authorization in the US; sponsorship is not available.
