This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver in-depth technical knowledge and oversight for upcoming natural gas power plant initiatives.
• Assist the project team by reviewing, validating, and ensuring the technical integrity of designs and execution strategies.
• Act in the capacity of a technical Owner's Engineer, aiding in project development, contracting, design evaluation, and execution through commissioning and startup phases.
• Lead technical efforts for the design, engineering, and construction of power plants that utilize natural gas reciprocating engines and/or gas turbines.
• Function as the subject matter expert (SME) for electrical systems related to power generation facilities.
• Establish and document the electrical basis of design, create the electrical scope of work, and outline key system requirements and performance metrics.
• Guide and assess technical outputs from external contractors.
• Collaborate with other technical disciplines to ensure project integration and thoroughness.
• Assist in the procurement process by drafting specifications and making vendor recommendations.
• Evaluate engineering documents and take part in design and technical review meetings.
• Ensure that designs meet relevant utility, grid interconnection, safety, and industry standards.
• Coordinate and manage multiple projects at once, ensuring compliance with schedule and quality benchmarks.
• Support construction, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities related to plant electrical systems.
• Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams and facilitate the development of junior engineers through mentoring, coaching, and design guidance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• At least 8 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering roles within the power generation, oil and gas, or heavy industrial sectors.
• Extensive technical knowledge in the design, construction, and operation of natural gas power plants, with comprehensive understanding of electrical systems for reciprocating engine and gas turbine facilities, including simple cycle and combined cycle configurations where applicable.
• Demonstrated experience in reviewing and validating intricate electrical designs from EPC contractors for large-scale projects.
• Strong familiarity with medium-voltage and high-voltage power systems, generator interconnection, protection and control philosophies, relay coordination and settings development, plant distribution systems, motor control, and power system studies.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, IEEE, NEC, NESC, and utility or interconnection requirements.
• Experience in leading detailed design reviews and providing technical oversight for major electrical systems in utility-scale power generation projects; experience as an engineer-of-record is a plus.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Capability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting and provide robust technical leadership.
