Electrical Engineer II – Power System Study

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct power system analyses, including support for interconnection studies of wind and solar plants during development, construction, and operational phases.

• Assist in system impact assessments, power flow analysis, short circuit evaluations, grounding studies, reactive power analysis, and related evaluations.

• Provide support for electromagnetic transient studies, insulation coordination assessments, and TOV studies using software like PSCAD or EMTP-RV.

• Employ software tools such as ETAP, ASPEN, CYMCAP, SKM, PSSE, PSLF, or similar applications to perform engineering analyses.

• Create clear, accurate, and organized technical documentation.

• Collaborate with internal teams, including engineers, designers, and project managers, to facilitate project execution.

• Engage with clients on technical issues under guidance, including fulfilling data requests and aiding with study inputs.

• Ensure all work adheres to relevant codes, standards, and company QA/QC protocols.

• Contribute to the enhancement of internal standards, tools, and processes.

• Assist in the preparation of proposals by providing technical insights and scope information.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in power system studies within power delivery, renewable energy, or power generation sectors.

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation is mandatory; Professional Engineering registration or the ability to obtain one is required.

• Must possess authorization to work full-time in the US/Canada.

• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (ANSI/IEEE, NESC, NEC, CSA, IEC, etc.) is essential.

• Knowledge of the renewable energy sector, particularly in relation to utility-scale wind and solar projects, is advantageous.

• Experience in supporting multi-discipline engineering initiatives.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Comfortable using power system analysis tools (ETAP, PSCAD, ASPEN, PSSE, etc.).

• Strong organizational, time management, and analytical problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capable of working independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.

• Self-driven with a desire for continuous technical learning and growth.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
