This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Complete PCB design cycle, which includes gathering requirements, schematic design, component selection, overseeing or finalizing layout, bringing up systems, testing, debugging, and system integration.
• Execute bring-up and design tasks on microcontrollers, ensuring smooth integration within the overall system.
• Diagnose challenges that intersect electrical and software domains, employing lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.) and basic software debugging tools.
• Operate in a dynamic environment that supports new developments, deployments, and hardware operated by customers.
• Carry out power design, which encompasses the development and integration of power management systems and components.
• Design payloads and subsystems (sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking).
• Generate system interconnect diagrams and specify wire harnesses that link electronic equipment within a subsystem.
• Collaborate closely with other teams, including electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and testing engineers, to deliver fully functional, mission-critical products.
• Conduct peer-level and interdisciplinary design reviews.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, along with 3+ years of experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex system designs.
• Proficient in conducting power system and electrical loading analysis, simulation, and testing to identify optimal solutions.
• Strong capability in using lab testing equipment (benchtop power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, DMM, logic/spectrum analyzers, etc.) and familiarity with thermal and EMI test chambers, as well as basic software debugging tools.
• Knowledge of common electrical bus interfaces (CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, USB).
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance.
• Experience in power design and power management systems.
• Practical experience with microcontrollers, including bring-up and design efforts.
• Understanding of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
• Experience in designing mixed-signal PCBs with various layer counts, layer stackup, and impedance matching for power and sensor applications, with a grasp of correct grounding techniques and application of proper board protections and filtering.
• Comprehension of low voltage and high voltage power electronics and control systems to accurately create system interconnect diagrams and direct cable harnessing designs with appropriate wire and connector selection.
