This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Conduct forensic investigations related to electrical failures, electrical fires, equipment malfunctions, power distribution systems, and damage resulting from power surges or lightning strikes.

β€’ Execute site inspections and collect field data, including measurements, photographs, and relevant documentation.

β€’ Analyze electrical systems, components, and equipment to ascertain the cause, origin, and extent of failures or damages.

β€’ Investigate electrical incidents that occur in residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional settings.

β€’ Assess compliance with relevant electrical codes, industry standards, and practices, including the National Electrical Code (NEC).

β€’ Utilize engineering principles, codes, standards, and best practices to formulate defensible conclusions.

β€’ Draft clear, concise, and technically robust forensic engineering reports.

β€’ Serve as an expert witness during depositions, mediation, arbitration, and trial proceedings as needed.

β€’ Share findings with clients, attorneys, insurance professionals, contractors, and other relevant stakeholders.

β€’ Keep abreast of current electrical codes, engineering standards, emerging technologies, and methodologies in forensic investigations.

β€’ Undertake other project-related consulting tasks as assigned.

β€’ Engage in project-based assignments as opportunities arise under an independent contractor arrangement.

β€’ Travel requirements will vary based on project demands and geographical coverage.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

β€’ Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing; preference for multiple state licensure.

β€’ Prior experience in forensic engineering or forensic electrical consulting is preferred.

β€’ Experience in conducting fire origin and cause investigations involving electrical systems is preferred.

β€’ Proven track record in investigating electrical failures, electrical fires, equipment damage, power quality issues, arc fault occurrences, and related loss causation matters.

β€’ Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC).

β€’ Experience in troubleshooting, testing, or conducting failure analysis of electrical systems.

β€’ Valid driver's license and the ability to travel independently to inspection sites within the assigned region.

β€’ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing capabilities.

β€’ Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.

β€’ Experience providing litigation support, depositions, or expert testimony is preferred.

β€’ Ability to manage multiple assignments independently while meeting project deadlines.

β€’ Contractors must handle their own taxes, licensing requirements, insurance, and business expenses.
