This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Develop designs and analyses for power, automation, and communication systems that comply with relevant codes for both surface and underground mining operations.
• Create designs for fiber-optic communication networks, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) / HMI (Human-Machine Interface) Process Control Systems, and Leaky Feeder cable systems tailored for mining automation and communication.
• Engineer electrical infrastructure and power distribution systems, including 35 kV, 25 kV, or 15 kV power distribution, alongside 5 kV and 480 V power distribution/motor control systems.
• Construct power systems analysis models utilizing tools such as ETAP, EasyPower, and/or SKM.
• Assist in the design of mine infrastructure, which includes switch rooms, messenger, tray, shaft, and borehole cable installations.
• Generate comprehensive reports, perform calculations, conduct functional testing, and carry out capacitive charging current / ground potential rise assessments and condition assessments.
• Aid in the design of process control and instrumentation for mine services, encompassing Ore & Waste Handling, Traffic Management, Ore Pass Dumping Controls, Crusher Controls, and Conveyor Synchronization.
• Support the Process Control and Interfaces for Hoisting Systems, as well as Ventilation/Ventilation-on-Demand and Process Piping Systems, which include Dewatering, Fuel Delivery, Compressed Air, and Process Water.
• A Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, accompanied by 5 years of progressive relevant work experience.
• Alternatively, a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 3 years of pertinent work experience.
• Of the required experience, a minimum of 3 years must involve: knowledge of electrical system design codes and mine safety and health administration regulations;
• Conducting inspections and condition assessments for electrical and communications infrastructure;
• Experience in the design of Fiber-optic communication networks, PLC, and HMI Process Control Systems, as well as Leaky Feeder systems;
• Involvement in mine infrastructure design, including switch rooms, messenger, tray, shaft, and borehole cable installations;
• Expertise in mine services process control & instrumentation, particularly in Ore & Waste Handling, Traffic Management, Ore Pass Dumping Controls, Crusher Controls, and Conveyor Synchronization;
• Proficiency in using ETAP, EasyPower, or SKM.
• Possession of an active U.S. Professional Engineer License is required.
• Telecommuting is permissible for up to 5 days a week.
• Travel to various locations across the U.S. may be required, up to 10% of the time.
