Electrical Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Create electrical designs and draft documentation for commercial renewable energy initiatives, focusing mainly on solar PV, battery energy storage systems, and related electrical infrastructure.

• Generate precise single-line diagrams, cable layouts, equipment layouts, schematics, and construction drawings utilizing AutoCAD.

• Assist the electrical team in executing design-and-construct commercial electrical projects.

• Deliver high-quality design drawings, construction documentation, and project records with minimal oversight.

• Provide support in preparing switchboard modification drawings, low-voltage distribution layouts, protection schemes, and associated electrical infrastructure documentation.

• Aid in cable sizing, voltage drop, fault-loop impedance, and protection calculation activities, particularly when PowerCAD experience is available.

• Evaluate project requirements, technical information, engineering markups, and design inputs to produce clear and precise drawing outputs.

• Ensure that drawings and documentation adhere to internal drawing standards, project specifications, and relevant Australian electrical standards.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to clarify design specifications, drawing revisions, technical challenges, and project timelines.

• Keep organized drawing files, design records, revisions, and supporting project documentation.

• Identify drafting or design challenges, raise questions as necessary, and assist in finding practical solutions during the design phase.

• Perform other duties at the position level as they emerge.

⛳️ Requirements

• A qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• At least 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering, electrical design, electrical drafting, renewable energy, commercial solar, battery storage, low-voltage distribution, or a comparable role.

• Proficient in AutoCAD drafting and design, with the capability to produce precise and professional electrical drawings with minimal supervision.

• Experience in generating electrical single-line diagrams, construction drawings, cable layouts, equipment layouts, schematics, and associated project documentation.

• Solid understanding of low-voltage electrical distribution, protection schemes, switchboards, and commercial electrical infrastructure.

• Familiarity with commercial solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems, or renewable energy projects is highly valued.

• PowerCAD experience is highly advantageous, especially for cable sizing, voltage drop, fault-loop impedance, and protection calculations.

• Knowledge of Australian electrical standards is highly regarded, including AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 5033, AS/NZS 4777.1, and AS/NZS 5139.

• Strong written English communication skills, capable of documenting technical information clearly and professionally.

• Ability to work independently, adhere to drawing standards, manage priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

• Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong commitment to accuracy, quality of drawings, and well-maintained documentation.

• Comfortable working remotely with internal engineering and project teams.
