This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and manage electrical control system designs from inception to completion, ensuring technical precision, feasibility, and alignment with project objectives.
• Collaborate with internal teams, field personnel, panel shops, clients, vendors, utilities, and regulatory bodies.
• Plan, execute, and analyze site visits to inform design processes or support control-system commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Allocate and monitor team-member responsibilities to ensure timely delivery and foster collaboration.
• Establish and sustain professional relationships with clients.
• Mentor and train team members while sharing best practices.
• Ensure that deliverables comply with company, industry, regulatory, and NEC standards; engage in reviews and continuous improvement efforts.
• Generate, assess, and revise documentation using engineering software and EPLAN tools.
• Investigate EPLAN capabilities, add-ins, emerging technologies, and integration possibilities.
• Maintain and refresh EPLAN standards, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Coordinate training on new EPLAN standards and processes.
• Assist in enhancing the team’s EPLAN skill set and create examples of Interstates’ EPLAN capabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 2–8 years of relevant engineering experience, or a combination of education and practical experience demonstrating necessary skills.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
• Eligibility for or attainment of a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred; PE license is mandatory for senior positions.
• Proficiency in electrical terminology, components, symbols, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams is preferred.
• Familiarity with design-build, plan/spec, or design-assist project delivery methods is preferred.
• Experience with EPLAN Electric P8 or similar electrical design software is preferred.
• Familiarity with developing or maintaining EPLAN standards, templates, macros, or workflows is preferred.
• Electrical Engineer II: 2–4 years of experience in control panel design or project engineering; exposure to field work, panel shop, or prefabrication environments; experience using electrical design software.
• Electrical Engineer III: 4–8 years of experience leading projects or technical teams; exposure to commissioning/startup and troubleshooting; client communication or early business development involvement; experience in training others on engineering software or design workflows.
• Senior Electrical Engineer: 7+ years of progressive experience, including managing complex projects or multiple design teams; PE license required or attainable; client presentations, sales or site visits, or participation in industry associations; ability to mentor leaders and drive strategic or process-improvement initiatives.
• Additional experience with BIM, Navisworks, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, field installation/troubleshooting, estimating, budgeting, project scoping, standards improvement, quality initiatives, software adoption, workflow enhancement, or digital design transformation is a plus.
