This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Serve as the leading EHS authority and main point of contact for the entire project, including the EHS interface with the customer.
• Provide visible EHS leadership and proactive assistance to the Project Management team, consortium partners, and subcontractors.
• Foster and advocate for a robust safety culture, ensuring EHS principles are integrated into all project activities.
• Assist in the execution of the GE Vernova EHS strategy, standards, and programs.
• Act as the primary EHS liaison for customers, consortium partners, and subcontractors.
• Keep abreast of regulatory changes and trends, forecasting potential impacts on the business.
• Organize and deliver EHS training sessions to ensure personnel are competent within the project's scope.
• Aid project management in implementing, monitoring, and continually enhancing the project's EHS management and performance in accordance with GE Vernova requirements and relevant standards.
• Conduct and facilitate risk assessments and hazard analyses; define, monitor, and verify corrective and preventive measures.
• Plan and execute EHS audits, inspections, and site walks; follow up on findings and ensure timely resolution.
• Support the "Design for EHS" approach in projects (e.g., engineering controls, safe work methods, site layout, and access concepts).
• Prioritize safety for all project participants—communicating proactively and leading by example.
• Report to the EHS Functional Leader and to the project organization (dotted line).
• Conduct EHS reporting according to GE Vernova processes and timelines (KPIs, dashboards, monthly/quarterly reports).
• Ensure precise and prompt registration, classification, and escalation of incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions using designated EHS tools.
• Collaborate with the regional EHS leader and project management team on incident investigations and reports; ensure that investigations of accidents and compliance incidents are performed, documented, and reported as needed.
• Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of actions; share lessons learned and best practices across projects, sites, and teams.
• Lead and facilitate project EHS meetings and campaign initiatives.
• Coordinate and reinforce GE Vernova safety culture programs throughout the project.
• Ensure that EHS expectations are clearly conveyed to employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Encourage workforce engagement and active participation in hazard reporting, observations, and continuous improvement.
• Assess EHS competency, qualifications, and readiness of subcontractors mobilized to the site.
• Oversee subcontractor adherence to approved EHS plans, legal requirements, and project protocols.
• Assist with onboarding, performance evaluations, and interventions when subcontractor EHS performance falls below expectations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field, or a technical/vocational qualification with significant relevant professional EHS experience.
• Recognized qualification as Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (Safety Specialist) according to German regulations (DGUV) and SiGeKo.
• Demonstrated experience in a lead EHS role, preferably within construction, installation, or industrial project environments in high-voltage electrical settings.
• Strong understanding of German occupational health & safety and environmental regulations, including environmental management on construction sites, permit-to-work, and control-of-work systems.
• Experience working on multinational projects and in diverse work environments.
• Proficient in German (spoken and written).
• Good command of English (spoken and written), including the ability to prepare documentation, reports, and training materials in both languages.
• Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with EHS management systems and digital EHS tools is a plus.
