This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Create and execute strategic plans that focus on uncovering opportunities, which include addressing customer concerns and needs, prospecting, fostering robust relationships, conducting pre-work activities, managing pilots, facilitating exhibits and conferences, and following up on leads.
• Meet or exceed sales targets for the designated territory while adhering to budget constraints.
• Oversee the territory by effectively utilizing CRM to log and monitor: Opportunities – both supplemental and core, Contacts, Cuts, victories, and failures.
• Generate quotes and offer support for proposals as necessary, including reviewing and assessing RFPs.
• Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of both print and digital products, presenting them in diverse environments.
• Demonstrate awareness of competitive products and leverage that information to effectively position and showcase offerings for success.
• Make optimal use of available resources such as consultants, promotional materials, samples, authors, and management.
• Provide sales, sampling, and inventory projections as requested by the National Sales Manager or the Regional Sales Manager.
• Embrace change and analyze as well as communicate trends that influence current and future business operations.
• Identify, comprehend, and leverage technology trends and needs, sharing this information with management, editorial, and marketing teams.
• Employ effective questioning techniques and listening skills to uncover customer issues and requirements.
• Engage in prospecting and meetings with new and existing customers in the Central Valley school sector.
• Utilize negotiation skills and closing strategies to secure business deals.
• Assist in planning and coordinating product training sessions with customers and PD staff as appropriate to ensure the successful implementation of BEC/NL materials.
• Organize and execute Invitationals/Presentations as necessary.
• Attend selected local, national, and regional exhibits as required.
• Follow up on leads generated from online advertisements, ads, and exhibitions and conferences.
• Review and provide constructive feedback on new marketing materials.
• Participate in weekly sales team conference calls.
• Perform general administrative tasks.
• Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field.
• Three to five years of sales experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Quick learner with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Exceptional verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
• Professional demeanor and orientation, capable of addressing external requests promptly and courteously.
• Proven track record of setting priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure with flexibility (ability to work extended hours).
• Experience in educational publishing is a plus, but not mandatory.
