Educational Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, facilitate, assess, and continually enhance faculty-development workshops, webinars, courses, events, programs, and resources.

• Promote faculty development and teaching excellence within online synchronous and asynchronous learning environments, classrooms, and laboratories.

• Collaborate with faculty, instructional teams, course leaders, and subject matter experts across various disciplines.

• Provide guidance on evidence-based pedagogy, digital teaching methodologies, instructional technologies, student learning assessment, and ongoing improvement.

• Onboard and mentor new faculty through the Ready-to-Teach program and associated initiatives.

• Modify existing programs and create new strategies for Nursing and Health Sciences as well as other evolving faculty needs.

• Partner with Senior Educational Developers, Educational Developers, Educational Technologists, Teaching and Learning units, academic programs, the Library, and other collaborative teams.

• Foster relationships across campuses and partner organizations.

• Remain updated on research and practices in higher education, translating insights into actionable faculty opportunities.

• Contribute to strategic initiatives, campus-wide discussions, resources, events, and scholarly endeavors.

• Assist CTEI in identifying emerging needs and adapting its programming and methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A completed Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.

• Familiarity with educational development and scholarship within higher education.

• Completion of the Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) Certificate through the ISW Network.

• Experience in facilitating Instructional Skills Workshops (ISWs) for faculty and academic personnel.

• Background in supporting faculty through educational development, including consultation, workshop facilitation, curriculum design and development, or a combination of these.

• Understanding of current educational research and evidence-informed strategies in higher education teaching and learning.

• Experience teaching in a higher education setting.

• Participation in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

• Proficiency in working with learning management systems, educational technologies, and digital teaching resources.

• Competence in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneNote.

• Ability to rapidly learn and apply new technologies.

• Capability to work independently, prioritize competing tasks and deadlines, and adapt to evolving needs.

• Skill in presenting ideas clearly, providing constructive feedback, and establishing trusted relationships.

• Willingness to work fully remotely and travel occasionally for multi-day campus visits and conferences.

• Legal eligibility to work in Canada on an ongoing basis.
