This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in initiatives aimed at safeguarding access to public education and upholding education civil rights, including through the efforts of the Education Civil Rights Alliance and NCYL’s Education Defense Fund.
• Aid in the implementation phase of a project designed to disseminate model legislation and policies that states can adopt to enhance the enforcement of civil rights for students.
• Currently a second-(2L) or third-(3L) year law student as of fall 2026.
• Availability to commit 15 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks between September and November 2026.
• Proven dedication to civil rights and/or education justice.
• Familiarity with and commitment to the mission of NCYL.
• Experience and/or genuine interest in contemporary issues affecting children and youth.
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Cultural competence when working with clients and colleagues from various backgrounds.
• Strong research and writing abilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proven capability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.
• NCYL is open to collaborating with law schools to facilitate course credit.
