📋 Description

• Review and assess fiction submissions under the mentorship of a senior editor.

• Create succinct reader reports that summarize the manuscripts’ concepts, strengths, areas for improvement, and their potential alignment with the Hay House fiction catalog.

• Investigate comparable titles, authors, and pertinent trends in fiction.

• Keep accurate records of submissions and maintain editorial files.

• Assist in the preparation of materials for editorial meetings.

• Engage in discussions regarding fiction submissions and the overall publishing process.

• Provide support to the editorial team with various administrative and project-based tasks as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in English Literature, Creative Writing, Publishing, or a related discipline.

• A strong passion for commercial genre fiction, including romantasy, romantic fantasy, romance, cozy mysteries, fairytale and myth retellings, as well as healing or speculative fiction.

• Exceptional reading comprehension and written communication abilities.

• Capability to form thoughtful opinions on manuscripts and convey feedback in a clear and respectful manner.

• Strong organizational skills combined with meticulous attention to detail.

• Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on assigned tasks.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• A desire to learn more about the publishing industry and a sense of curiosity.

• Previous experience in publishing is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Must be a resident of or willing to relocate to an eligible U.S. state.
