This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Formulate and implement strategic initiatives aimed at expanding Wiley's Advanced Portfolio in the global medical field.
• Commission top-quality papers and cultivate collaborative relationships with prominent researchers through community engagement, enhancing both content quality and brand influence.
• Assume responsibility for the peer review process and make decisions on manuscripts, ensuring adherence to the highest editorial standards.
• Collaborate with the global editorial team to manage manuscripts submitted from related Advanced titles.
• Initiate and oversee the management of new Advanced spin-off titles in relevant subject areas as the brand evolves.
• Oversee titles within a team of in-house editors and engage in medical cluster strategies.
• Work closely with marketing teams to develop and execute brand-enhancing events and initiatives for both immediate and long-term success.
• Generate leads and ideas for subject-related products to be communicated to the appropriate colleagues.
• PhD in any medical specialty.
• Post-doctoral and clinical experience is preferred.
• Proven experience in commissioning, including the ability to identify key topics, approach potential authors, agree on outlines/timelines, and guide authors through to submission.
• Experience in manuscript handling, including prescreening, peer review, final decision-making, appeals, and integrity cases.
• Subject-Matter Expertise (academic).
• Extensive global network within research communities and a solid track record of engaging with top-tier research talents.
• Exhibits high integrity and honesty.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and translate strategic visions into actionable plans.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
