This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Overseeing wetland evaluations and delineations, conducting vegetation and botanical surveys, avian studies, wildlife assessments, and screenings for Species at Risk habitats.
• Organizing, coordinating, and safely implementing environmental field programs, which encompass logistics, managing subcontractor coordination, field data gathering, and quality assurance/control of field records.
• Drafting and contributing to technical documents, baseline assessments, environmental impact evaluations, permitting materials, environmental management strategies, monitoring reports, and regulatory submissions.
• Analyzing field findings in accordance with relevant provincial and federal regulatory standards, including those pertaining to wetlands, wildlife, Species at Risk, migratory birds, and habitat preservation.
• Assisting in the development of proposals, which includes formulating technical approaches, estimating levels of effort, establishing assumptions, scheduling, staffing plans, and writing project experience narratives.
• Collaborating with project managers to facilitate project execution, encompassing scope planning, schedule coordination, budget input tracking, meeting documentation, client communication, and deliverable management.
• Partnering with adjacent Environmental disciplines as AECOM expands its Atlantic ecology practice, which may include assistance with site assessments and remediation for contaminated sites (surface/groundwater monitoring and sampling, soil sampling, air sampling, Phase II ESA drilling and reporting) when applicable.
• Adhering to AECOM's Safety, Health and Environment protocols and quality management systems, while promoting safe, practical, and high-quality field implementations.
• A degree or diploma in biology, ecology, environmental science, botany, wildlife biology, or a related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent demonstrated expertise, in environmental consulting, industry, government, academia, Indigenous-led environmental initiatives, or another directly related area.
• Proven experience in carrying out wetland assessments and delineations (holding WESP-AC certifications), conducting vegetation and botanical surveys, breeding bird or other avian surveys, wildlife surveys, and Species at Risk habitat screenings.
• Familiarity with environmental regulatory frameworks in Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada, including provincial wetland and wildlife regulations alongside pertinent federal laws such as the Species at Risk Act and the Migratory Birds Convention Act.
• Experience in preparing technical reports, field summaries, permit application support documents, or similar outputs.
• Experience in supporting proposals, work plans, scopes of work, or estimating levels of effort.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including the capacity to convey information effectively to clients, regulators, colleagues, and subcontractors.
• Highly organized, with strong time management skills, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to quality.
