This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Accountable for the operation and upkeep of IT systems established by the Government to deliver automated litigation support IT resources for designated cases.
• In the case of large-scale systems, the System Administrator (I or II) may provide assistance and support to the Senior System Administrator.
• Tasked with ensuring systems and services are operational; involves monitoring, analyzing, and enhancing server and system performance, including offering suggestions for performance improvements.
• Conducting regular system backups.
• Managing user ID and password assignments.
• Overseeing disk space allocation and tracking.
• Offering consulting support and guidance, as well as coordinating with IT users responsible for specific applications/databases on the servers.
• Identifying and procuring necessary supplies, hardware, software, and accessories.
• Executing hardware and software upgrades.
• Implements and upholds security measures for systems, facilities, and data, including resources and procedures for patch management, security reporting, and disaster recovery.
• Manages not only hardware and operating system software but also database and other application software.
• Collaborates with the COR and DOJ technical staff on all relevant issues, and coordinates with the DOJ office automation network administration staff concerning matters related to DOJ office automation networks.
• Provides progress reports.
• Develops tools for system-wide application development; prepares system documentation.
• May have some supervisory duties.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance before starting (candidates do not need to have clearance at the time of application).
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform effectively in a fully remote work environment.
• Minimum of three years of hands-on, directly relevant experience in implementing the types of systems being established, such as UNIX, Windows, etc.
• Must possess a solid understanding of specific applications and application software, such as Oracle, Relativity, web hosting, etc.
• CNE certification is highly desirable.
• At least one year of experience in setting up large-scale database management applications, utilizing the relevant database management software.
• Experience with MS Windows is required.
• Background in storage technology planning, performance capacity planning and modeling, applications planning, human factors issues, distributed processing, and business process analysis.
• Requires a minimum of six months of experience in the specific installation being managed.
• Requires comprehensive knowledge of the Government's IT environments, including office automation networks and PC and server-based databases and applications.
• Requires extensive knowledge of the Government's security standards (i.e., NIST, E-Gov, FIPS, FISMA, and DOJ regulations).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
