Donor Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Promptly address donor screening referrals by reviewing medical records, donor documentation, and Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI) data.

• Assess donor eligibility based on established Ossium guidelines, clinical criteria, and available case information.

• Identify any missing, incomplete, or conflicting information, proactively seeking additional documentation or clarification from partner organizations as needed.

• Make independent decisions regarding donor acceptance and deferral within established guidelines, and escalate complex or exceptional cases when necessary.

• Complete donor verification activities along with required documentation and internal notifications related to donor eligibility and case progression.

• Create and maintain organized donor files, ensuring that all supporting documentation is accurately recorded and easily accessible.

• Monitor donor cases throughout recovery and shipping workflows, providing timely follow-ups and status updates as necessary.

• Accurately document all screening activities, eligibility determinations, partner communications, follow-up actions, and case outcomes in a timely manner.

• Collaborate with OPOs, recovery partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient case management and resolution of outstanding issues.

• Oversee pending cases, perform follow-up activities, record final case dispositions, and communicate next steps to partner organizations.

• Act as a primary contact for partner organizations, offering professional and responsive support while addressing screening-related queries and inquiries.

• Stay updated on Ossium policies, donor eligibility criteria, industry regulations, and operational procedures through continuous training and education.

• Develop an understanding of partner-specific processes, documentation practices, and terminology to facilitate effective collaboration and consistent communication.

• Contribute to initiatives aimed at process improvement and support the implementation of new workflows, technologies, and operational enhancements.

• Demonstrate a commitment to confidentiality and the handling of sensitive medical information in compliance with applicable privacy and regulatory standards.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of one year of experience in a hospital, organ procurement organization (OPO), tissue bank, donation-focused call center, or donor screening/triage role.

• Proven ability to review medical records and evaluate donor eligibility using established screening criteria, protocols, and clinical guidelines.

• Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of organ, tissue, and donor recovery processes.

• Strong critical thinking skills, capable of analyzing incomplete information, identifying potential concerns, and making informed eligibility decisions.

• Ability to exercise independent judgment while recognizing the need for escalation or additional review when necessary.

• Excellent organizational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and records.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions.

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams, share information proactively, and contribute to a positive and supportive work atmosphere.

• Adaptability and a willingness to embrace changing processes, technologies, and operational needs while ensuring compliance with current industry standards and best practices.

• Proficiency in computer systems, web-based applications, and digital communication tools necessary for effective performance in a fully remote environment.

• Capability to maintain a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a dedicated workspace suitable for remote work.
