Donor Procurement Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee all activities pertaining to the receipt of organ offers for transplantation.

• Assess organ offers for their appropriateness.

• Manage the procurement of organs and the setup for transplants.

• Adhere to OPTN/UNOS regulations for post-transplant documentation of donor and transplant procedures.

• Act as the primary contact for all potential transplant offers from local, regional, and national organ procurement organizations.

• Organize the procurement team and dispatch team to the donor site within the necessary time constraints.

• Coordinate air or ground transport for organs.

• Provide expertise in organ recovery and preservation.

• Assist in training caregivers involved in organ preservation.

• Guide new residents and fellows on renal procurement, renal allocation, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Create and deliver professional education programs as needed.

• Collect, analyze, and report relevant data on potential donors and accepted organs for transplantation.

• Participate in selection committee meetings.

• Abstract information and input data into the transplant database.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related discipline OR a degree/diploma from an accredited Nursing School, Respiratory Therapy Program, or Paramedic Program.

• At least one year of experience as an organ procurement coordinator OR clinical experience in critical care or in the organ procurement/transplant field.

• Maintain current licenses and necessary certifications (Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, or Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic).

• Certification as a Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) by the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC) is preferred.

• Previous experience in transplant or organ procurement is preferred.

• Relevant healthcare experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with UNOS/UNET is preferred.
