Distinguished AI Engineer

📋 Description

• Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to create AI-driven products that transform how our associates operate and how our customers engage with Capital One.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI software components, including foundational model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.

• Utilize a wide array of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies, including AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch, and more.

• Innovate and implement cutting-edge LLM optimization techniques to enhance the performance — scalability, cost-effectiveness, latency, throughput — of large-scale production AI systems.

• Play a key role in shaping the technical vision and long-term strategy for foundational AI systems at Capital One.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI with a minimum of 8 years of experience in developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's degree with at least 6 years of experience in the same fields.

• A minimum of 8 years of programming experience in Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

• 8 years of experience in deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud).

• Experience in architecting, designing, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.

• Proven ability to lead and mentor multiple engineering teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders up to the VP level.

• Experience in developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies (e.g., LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails, Memory) using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.

• A Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
