This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• For assets in research or development, identify high unmet needs in collaboration with GEE, GMA, and other cross-functional colleagues as necessary.
• Define the requirements for evidence generation to quantify unmet needs and assess how the asset's anticipated efficacy can positively impact patient and health system outcomes.
• Conduct payer research to guide pricing strategies and evidence requirements that address significant unmet needs.
• Provide strategic guidance to cross-functional teams, including new product planning, to enhance the value of a specific asset (indication prioritization).
• Engage with external experts (current or former payers, HTA assessors, clinical thought leaders) to gain insights into stakeholder perspectives on unmet needs and how to effectively optimize the asset’s value proposition.
• Draft the asset’s value proposition and contribute to the asset’s target product profile; collaborate with cross-functional colleagues as needed to inform the asset’s development programs through various stages (including Ph 1, Ph 2, and Ph 3).
• Seek feedback from regulators through EMA | HTA joint scientific advice to guide the asset’s development program.
• Collaborate with regional and affiliate market access colleagues, along with other cross-functional teams, to develop global market access-related deliverables such as the global value dossier and relevant economic models.
• Establish a global pricing and policy strategy.
• Inform the asset launch sequence and early market access initiatives.
• Act as a subject matter expert on market access trends in major markets that influence pricing potential and reimbursement for the asset under development.
• Ensure ongoing value optimization post-asset launch by collaborating across regions to identify additional evidence generation necessary to strengthen the asset’s global value proposition.
• Conduct and/or support special projects as needed to remain updated on global market access trends and their implications for the Shionogi portfolio.
• An advanced degree such as an MSc and/or PhD is preferred.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an affiliate-level Market Access team within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry (preferably in the US).
• A minimum of 7-10 years in global Market Access teams within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare sector.
• Current knowledge of the latest market access trends, including Joint Clinical Assessments and rapidly evolving pricing policies such as MFN.
• Deep subject matter expertise regarding the US healthcare system relative to market access is preferred.
• Proven experience in developing and executing market access plans for pipeline assets across various disease areas, including orphan diseases.
• Experience in conducting market access-related studies such as burden of disease studies, modeling, systematic literature reviews, and meta-analyses is required.
• Proficiency in working with clinical outcome assessment measures.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and implement a strategic vision for gHCVa within GSO.
• Exceptional collaboration and teamwork abilities, effectively engaging with global and regional cross-functional teams, including Development, Clinical, New Product Planning, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Epidemiology, Real World Evidence, and Market Access.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills to deliver persuasive presentations and represent the organization at conferences.
• Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all organizational levels.
• Capacity to engage and foster strong relationships with external stakeholders, including thought leaders and academic experts.
