Director, Strategy – Quality Practices, Health and Wellness

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Propels organizational objectives by converting national guidelines into clear, actionable support that enhances local YMCA operational excellence and fosters a healthier, more effective YMCA Movement.

• Directs initiatives to establish shared goals, reinforce alignment, and boost the credibility of Y-USA strategies across local Ys, alliances, and service delivery partners to ensure a coordinated and consistent impact.

• Creates and oversees activation strategies that further organizational priorities, ensuring Ys and partners have the necessary resources, guidance, and capabilities to engage effectively.

• Engages the YMCA network to advocate for systemwide adoption of Y-USA Membership tools, products, and solutions; identifies successful practices; and offers programmatic support to Network Partners.

• Gathers and evaluates Membership data, signals, and industry trends to inform ongoing quality improvement strategies and uncover opportunities for innovation.

• Collaborates with governmental, nonprofit, academic, and private stakeholders to support national initiatives, enhance influence, and promote mission-aligned strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Business or related disciplines is required.

• An advanced degree is strongly preferred.

• 8-12 years of experience is required.

• Expert functional skills, advanced industry knowledge and experience, and advanced managerial skills are essential.

• Ability to manage multiple teams or functions.

• Strategic and operational decision-making authority is necessary.

• Capable of handling highly complex and managerial tasks.

• Minimal supervision required.
