This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Monitors state legislative and regulatory activities, providing updates and guidance on pertinent policy proposals and actions, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess potential impacts on Definium.
• Formulates and implements strategies to influence state policy that aligns with enterprise priorities. This encompasses developing and executing strategic initiatives and policy positions, drafting written comments, analyzing complex health care policies, direct lobbying, and engaging third-party groups and coalitions.
• Establishes both proactive and reactive policy agendas to create new frameworks that support Definium’s pipeline.
• Evaluates the public policy landscape, identifies when legislative and regulatory actions are advisable, and offers recommendations for Definium’s actions.
• Cultivates and sustains strong working relationships with key state and regional stakeholders involved in developing health care policies that may affect Definium.
• Creates stakeholder partnerships and advocacy coalitions to promote mental health awareness, patient access, and policy priorities, while enhancing Definium's leadership within the healthcare ecosystem.
• Fosters close working relationships with key internal cross-functional stakeholders to leverage advocacy strategies, engaging with business stakeholders to develop a thorough understanding of commercial strategies that ensure public policy strategies align with Definium’s commercial and regulatory objectives.
• A minimum of a BS or BA degree is required.
• At least 8 years of experience in Government, Government Affairs, Public Affairs, and/or Policy.
• In-depth knowledge of the U.S. health care system, particularly in finance, payment structures, and benefit design.
• Consistent track record of identifying policy trends that impact public health.
• Proven capacity to plan and execute a comprehensive, proactive government affairs strategy that promotes Definium’s mission and objectives with local, regional, and state elected officials.
• Previous experience in a pharmaceutical company or healthcare trade association is preferred.
• Demonstrated project team orientation and ability to work cross-functionally.
• Business acumen and professionalism necessary to earn the respect of a diverse range of industry, advocacy, and policy stakeholders.
• Capability to unite cross-functional internal stakeholders and advance projects towards resolution and action.
• Subject matter expertise in general health care issues.
• Proven ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
• Experience engaging with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders with the capability to influence for better outcomes.
• Strong team player with a customer service mindset and solution-oriented approach.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently, within a multi-disciplinary team, and with external partners and vendors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• This position requires fieldwork with up to 50% domestic travel.
