This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop a comprehensive vision and strategy for KinderCare’s Software Engineering capabilities, encompassing people, processes, and technology.
• Oversee the creation and delivery of high-quality software solutions across various platforms.
• Mentor and develop managers, software engineers, architects, and cross-functional technical leaders across distributed teams.
• Enhance organizational capabilities through workforce and succession planning, talent development, and leadership coaching.
• Boost team throughput and developer productivity by leveraging AI development tools, modern engineering practices, and process enhancements.
• Establish and manage architectural direction and technical roadmaps for software products.
• Optimize delivery capacity, cost, and knowledge continuity by balancing the use of contract workers and full-time employees.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Quality Engineering, Portfolio, and Infrastructure/Operations teams to align and deliver software products.
• Define quarterly team objectives and key results in alignment with business priorities and technology strategies.
• Ensure that software development and architecture processes are efficient, effective, and scalable.
• Advocate for KinderCare’s Discovery to Delivery framework.
• Report on progress, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Engage in cross-functional technology leadership activities and strategic initiatives.
• Provide customer-focused solutions for problem resolution and incident management.
• Foster a minimum viable product (MVP) delivery mindset across teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in software development.
• More than 5 years in a leadership role managing and developing both onshore and offshore software engineering teams.
• Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality software products.
• Experience in managing software architects and cultivating architectural talent.
• Practical experience with AI coding assistants and agentic development workflows.
• Proven track record of enhancing team throughput via AI tools and process improvements.
• Experience in delivering customer websites, applications, and services, including payment solutions and financial transaction systems.
• Strong technical foundation in software architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies.
• Experience in optimizing Agile software engineering delivery across multiple platforms and product teams.
• Experience in balancing contract and full-time employees.
• Experience in managing vendor relationships for contract engineers and software engineering services.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
