Director, Sales – Midwestern US

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a regional team comprising machinery sales representatives and aftermarket sales/service personnel.

• Set clear performance objectives, sales strategies, and professional development plans.

• Encourage collaboration between machinery and aftermarket teams to provide comprehensive solutions for customers.

• Create and implement a regional sales strategy that aligns with company goals for both capital equipment and aftermarket business sectors.

• Examine market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activities to discover new business opportunities.

• Manage key account relationships, ensuring long-term customer satisfaction and retention.

• Work with marketing and product management to synchronize regional initiatives with national campaigns and product launches.

• Drive new machinery sales through prospecting, qualifying, and acquiring new customers in the plastics processing sector.

• Advocate for aftermarket products including spare parts, service contracts, machine retrofits, and training programs.

• Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and technical conferences to boost visibility and enhance brand reputation.

• Oversee regional sales budgets, forecasts, and expense management.

• Monitor and report on key performance indicators, such as bookings, margins, and market share growth.

• Ensure profitable sales growth while adhering to pricing and discounting policies.

• Maintain robust relationships with OEMs, molders, processors, and key decision-makers throughout the territory.

• Serve as the regional customer advocate to internal teams to promote product enhancements and service improvements.

• Ensure a seamless customer experience from the initial sale through to post-installation support.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline (MBA preferred).

• 8+ years of experience in capital equipment sales within the plastics industry or industrial manufacturing sector.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing sales teams and achieving growth objectives.

• Strong technical knowledge of plastics processing machinery (e.g., injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, or thermoforming).

• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.

• Proficient with CRM systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Willingness to travel extensively within the designated region (50–70%).

• Proven track record of increasing both machinery and aftermarket sales revenue.

• Strong cross-functional leadership and collaboration capabilities.

• Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to customer engagement.

• High level of integrity, accountability, and initiative.
