This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +4 more states.
• Oversee the global accounting functions for Revenue, AR, and CoGS, steering the strategic direction for high-integrity subledger operations, journal entry frameworks, and effective reconciliations.
• Manage the smooth integration of technical accounting policies into high-volume global workflows, ensuring that financial results accurately represent Twilio’s innovative business model.
• Establish and promote a scalable operational vision for ERP workflows and revenue automation (e.g., Oracle RMCS, Zuora), identifying process gaps and advocating for technology-driven enhancements essential for a world-class public company, collaborating closely with business operations and enterprise technology teams.
• Empower your team to provide sophisticated variance analysis that reveals the "why" behind financial fluctuations, delivering a clear narrative of financial performance.
• Foster effective collaboration with Billing, GTM, Product & Pricing, and FP&A leaders, offering the high-level guidance necessary to assess the operational feasibility and compliance of ongoing and new initiatives.
• Oversee intricate accounting challenges such as material, non-standard customer contracts, ensuring the precise application of accounting guidance and internal policies throughout the organization.
• Work alongside Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting teams to guarantee accurate disclosures and comprehensive policy memos, while guiding the global team through smooth audit cycles.
• Own the global control framework for functional areas, advancing SOX compliance and internal audit strategies to keep pace with Twilio’s evolving business models and regulatory requirements.
• Establish the vision for operational excellence, nurturing a culture of continuous learning and professional development, transforming your team from transactional experts to strategic collaborators.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive accounting experience, including over 6 years focused on revenue accounting, predominantly in a large, fast-paced public company setting.
• At least 8 years of experience in leading and developing high-performing management-level teams, with a proven track record of building, nurturing, and influencing an effective team culture.
• Expert-level knowledge of ASC 606, deferred revenue accounting, and complex CoGS structures (including gross margin mechanics) within a SaaS or usage-based context.
• Extensive experience with enterprise-grade ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and specialized revenue subledgers (e.g., Zuora Revenue, RMCS).
• Proven capability to influence C-suite and VP-level stakeholders, translating complex accounting transactions into clear strategic narratives.
• Exceptional skill in managing "gray area" exceptions and non-standard transactions with a focus on both compliance and business enablement, along with a demonstrated ability to distill complex problems into core components and drive towards pragmatic, scalable, and optimized solutions.
• In-depth understanding of the SOX framework and a history of designing and maintaining compliance controls for complex, high-volume data environments.
