This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Develop and direct the enterprise regulatory affairs strategy, governance structure, and operational model.
• Act as the primary point of contact for the enterprise concerning major regulatory and legislative issues.
• Offer strategic advice to senior leadership and coordinate responses to intricate challenges.
• Manage regulatory examinations, inquiries, investigations, subpoenas, CIDs, attorney general investigations, and legislative or congressional inquiries.
• Lead the market conduct strategy, plan corrective actions, and implement remediation programs.
• Coordinate the enterprise's regulatory and legislative positioning, communication strategies, advocacy priorities, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
• Supervise the strategy and governance for rate, form, and product filings.
• Collaborate with Product, Pricing, Legal, and Compliance teams to identify and mitigate filing risks and regulatory issues.
• Establish and lead a proactive regulatory intelligence function.
• Anticipate emerging regulatory priorities and evaluate their impacts on products, operations, and business strategies.
• Create and maintain a regulatory risk dashboard that monitors complaint ratios, examination results, MCAS trends, legislative activities, and ongoing inquiries.
• Conduct quarterly Regulatory Insights Reviews with leaders from Underwriting, Claims, and Product.
• Oversee regulatory horizon-scanning to identify emerging risks and legislative trends.
• Provide executives and the Board with insights into regulatory risks and emerging issues.
• Conduct root-cause analysis across examinations, investigations, and complaints.
• Transform regulatory signals into strategic improvements for the enterprise and enhance filing outcomes and market readiness.
• A bachelor's degree is required.
• A JD, MBA, MPA, or equivalent is preferred.
• Over 15 years of experience in insurance regulation, regulatory affairs, legal, compliance, government affairs, or related fields.
• Extensive knowledge of state insurance regulations, examinations, investigations, and government affairs.
• Proven ability to lead complex regulatory initiatives and engage at the executive level.
• Strong executive presence, strategic thought processes, and skills in relationship management.
• Demonstrated capability to influence senior leaders and handle high-profile regulatory matters.
• Preferred experience interacting with insurance commissioners, state departments of insurance, attorneys general, federal agencies, and legislative bodies.
• Preferred experience in building or transforming regulatory or governance organizations.
• Preferred experience in presenting to Boards of Directors and executive leadership.
• A successful background investigation is required.
