📋 Description

• The Director of Philanthropy (Corporate & Foundation) will play a pivotal role in advancing NMSI’s mission by implementing and enhancing fundraising strategies that support strategic program growth, in alignment with the priorities set by the Senior Director of Business Development (Philanthropy) and connected to the broader goals of the Business Development team and the organization.

• This position will manage relationships with current corporate and foundation donors, develop new philanthropic opportunities, and assist in translating NMSI’s initiatives into engaging narratives, proposals, reports, and communications targeted at funders.

• By employing a combination of portfolio management, donor stewardship, proposal and report creation, prospect identification, and cross-functional collaboration, the Director will act as a key relationship builder and project manager within NMSI’s philanthropic partnerships.

• The individual in this role is expected to have a deep understanding of NMSI’s programs, identify the appropriate narrative for various donor audiences, and collaborate with teams to compile the necessary data, examples, materials, and insights to enhance funding relationships.


⛳️ Requirements

• Experienced fundraisers and donor relationship managers: You possess a minimum of five years of increasing responsibility in fundraising, corporate and/or foundation relations, institutional giving, business development, or a related area, with a proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and managing significant philanthropic partnerships.

• Strong writers and storytellers: You excel at crafting compelling narratives for proposals, reports, donor communications, and other external documents. You can distill complex programmatic information and data into clear, persuasive language that resonates with donor audiences.

• Skilled project managers, action-oriented, and results-driven: You prioritize tasks effectively, address problems, pay attention to detail, and deliver measurable outcomes that align with our organizational goals. You effectively manage donor portfolios, proposal and reporting timelines, meeting preparations, follow-ups, and internal coordination with discipline and consistency.

• Relationship-minded and team-oriented: You cultivate strong internal and external relationships, communicate with clarity and professionalism, and encourage collaboration across teams. You are comfortable working with colleagues from various departments to gather information, align strategies, and advance projects.

• Agile strategic learners: While you may not have overseen every aspect of fundraising strategy previously, you possess the curiosity, judgment, and capability to evolve into a more strategic portfolio leadership role over time. You can adapt to shifting priorities, navigate ambiguity, and collaborate across different departments to gather necessary resources.

• Tech-savvy and systems-disciplined: You are proficient in utilizing technology to enhance organization, communication, and accountability. Experience with a CRM is essential; preference will be given to candidates with Salesforce experience.

• Mission-aligned: You are motivated by NMSI’s mission and eager to become a subject matter expert in NMSI’s work, programs, outcomes, and value propositions for donors.
