Director of Security Operations – Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee Security Operations and Security Engineering at EDB, directly reporting to the CISO.

• Take ownership of threat detection, incident response, and scalable security engineering initiatives.

• Manage the entire incident response process, from intake and severity assessment to after-action reviews and enhancements.

• Collaborate with the Legal team on investigations.

• Lead detection engineering efforts, threat hunting, and manage SIEM, EDR, SOAR, and cloud security platforms.

• Design and implement preventive controls, least privilege protocols, and identity assurance for employees, contractors, and build systems.

• Establish the insider threat program in partnership with HR, Legal, and IT.

• Leverage automation and agentic AI to enhance analyst capacity, while ensuring that analysts maintain decision-making authority.

• Integrate newly acquired companies and environments into EDB’s established standards.

• Collaborate with IT and Product leadership to implement preventive controls in platforms, pipelines, and products.

• Provide security insights for third-party risk assessments and device posture management alongside GRC.

• Scale the organizational design, operating rhythms, roadmap, budget, and vendor strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of management experience leading security teams.

• Over 7 years of practical experience in security operations, incident response, detection, or security engineering.

• Proven success in scaling a security function during rapid growth phases, including hiring, automation, and maintaining operational discipline.

• Ability to think strategically beyond the immediate responsibilities of the role.

• Skill in translating technical risks into business impacts for executives, legal teams, customers, and IT and Product stakeholders.

• Comfort working in a global, remote-first environment with flexible schedules and on-call duties.

• Hands-on experience in scripting or automation using languages such as Python or Go.

• Familiarity with applying AI or agent-based automation within security workflows.

• Experience in cloud security and a background in M&A security integration.

• Experience in developing an insider threat or identity assurance program.
