This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Evaluate and manage the corporate risks of the company.
• Establish criteria for reviewing and negotiating insurance clauses in contracts.
• Lead negotiations for significant contracts.
• Procure and renew corporate insurance policies.
• Create, assess, and implement best practices in risk management.
• Formulate, execute, and monitor risk management policies.
• Supervise the corporate audit program.
• Develop and oversee the corporate insurance budget.
• Create and maintain procedural manuals for risk management.
• Implement and uphold record-keeping systems for risk and legal documents.
• Collaborate with senior management to identify risk strategies and corporate initiatives.
• Identify, secure, renew, and manage commercial insurance coverage.
• Monitor insurance policies and relay coverage information to staff.
• Oversee insurance renewals, brokers, insurers, and claims processes.
• Coordinate investigations of losses and improvements for loss prevention.
• Manage certificates of insurance and verify contractual obligations.
• Negotiate insurance programs and review policies for precision.
• Prepare submissions for underwriting and gather necessary underwriting data.
• Analyze claims expenses and devise strategies to enhance risk performance.
• Collaborate with senior management and legal advisors on claims administration.
• Identify lessons learned from claims and formulate strategies for risk reduction.
• Maintain systems for allocating risk management costs.
• Analyze historical data and project potential loss levels.
• Work with insurers to establish reserves for known exposures.
• Lead efforts in disaster recovery, business continuity, and local safety committees.
• Stay informed on regulatory changes and adjust risk management processes accordingly.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a leadership role within Risk Management.
• Proficiency in assessing risks accurately and creating programs, processes, and controls for risk management and loss mitigation.
• Experience across all lines of coverage, direct claims accountability, oversight of insurance transactions, and management of insurance broker relationships.
• Previous experience working for a broker is required.
• Ability to collaborate with others on projects, whether as a team member or leader.
• Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining relationships with brokers, insurers, vendors, clients, and all employee levels.
• Outstanding contract review and negotiation capabilities.
• Proven skills in project planning, decision-making, delivering results, and team development.
