Director of Revenue Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the design and management of comprehensive revenue cycle operations, which includes charge capture, claims submission, denial management, payer follow-up, patient billing, and accounts receivable collections.

• Oversee and analyze critical revenue cycle metrics (such as clean claim rate, AR days, denial rate, and write-off rate) and provide monthly reports on outcomes to leadership.

• Collaborate with Clinical teams to create and document billing and coding protocols, ensuring their consistent implementation across various payer types.

• Lead efforts in denial prevention and appeals processes by tracking root causes, identifying trends, and addressing systemic issues.

• Ensure billing compliance and operational readiness for every new insurance plan accepted by Hey Jane — while this position does not involve contract negotiations, it guarantees the necessary infrastructure for billing is established prior to service delivery.

• Work alongside Product and Engineering teams to assess revenue cycle management and AI tools, enhancing EHR and billing system configurations, including automations, reporting, and integrations.

• Facilitate state expansion by operationalizing billing for newly introduced Medicaid programs and payer initiatives.

• Detect and rectify operational inefficiencies in the revenue cycle, developing scalable processes that minimize manual tasks and enhance accuracy.

• Supervise a team of 2-3 billing specialists.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle or billing operations, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial or lead capacity.

• Preference for candidates with Medi-Cal/Medicaid billing experience; multi-state Medicaid knowledge is a significant advantage.

• Strong preference for backgrounds in telehealth, reproductive health, or women's health.

• Proficient in clearinghouse workflows, ERA/EOB reconciliation, and CPT/ICD-10 coding for reproductive and virtual care.

• Practical experience in configuring and managing billing systems and EHRs; must be comfortable serving as the internal subject-matter expert.

• Possess an analytical mindset with a proven history of leveraging data to identify trends, monitor KPIs, and foster process enhancements — focusing on actionable insights rather than mere reporting.

• Exhibit strong cross-functional collaboration skills; capable of working with Clinical, BD, Finance, Product, and Clinical Operations independently.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities; skilled at converting complex billing information into clear escalations, documentation, and updates for leadership.

• Thrive in dynamic, uncertain environments; demonstrate adaptability, resourcefulness, and a solutions-oriented approach.
