This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Supervise and finalize designs for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar PV and energy storage systems (ESS), encompassing interconnection designs, single-line diagrams, bid documents, construction sets, and as-built drawings.
• Work in tandem with Business Development and Field Services teams to grasp customer requirements and devise optimal project solutions.
• Develop, execute, and uphold quality control procedures.
• Participate in customer meetings and presentations throughout the sales cycle as needed.
• Identify project responsibilities across clients, utilities, permitting agencies, contractors, and other entities, assigning personnel to various project phases and components.
• Join pre-construction and progress meetings, ensuring to create detailed meeting minutes.
• Conduct site assessments and analyses utilizing on-site data collection and off-site network tools.
• Contribute to or author technical papers.
• Execute site-specific PV array production analyses using modeling software such as PVSYST.
• Incorporate energy storage systems into solar PV systems.
• Guide and train new and junior engineering staff.
• A minimum of 5–10 years of experience as a Professional Engineer specializing in solar array design.
• Knowledge and experience in design and construction processes for distributed generation, commercial solar PV, and utility-scale solar PV projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, drafting, electrical line diagrams, and interpreting technical specifications and construction documents.
• Competence in solar design tools and a comprehensive understanding of photovoltaic systems.
• Familiarity with the NEC and other relevant building codes.
• Capability to oversee multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under changing conditions.
• Self-sufficient with minimal supervision, consistently meeting deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for collaboration and delivering customer presentations.
• Experience in supervising work performed in remote locations.
• Active PE License, with Florida and California as minimum licensing criteria, and the ability to obtain licensure in all 50 states.
• NABCEP certification is advantageous.
• Preferred experience in Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design.
