Director of Product Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Influence how customers interact with, locate information within, and accomplish tasks on FinQuery’s growing accounting automation platform.

• Create impactful AI experiences that enhance workflows while ensuring visibility, control, and customer confidence.

• Navigate key challenges from initial exploration through to prototypes, customer validation, and final product delivery.

• Conduct customer interviews and usability tests to deepen customer insights and affirm product choices.

• Build, lead, and cultivate a high-performing design team through effective feedback and prioritization.

• Advance the design system in collaboration with Engineering to create accessible components and uniform interaction patterns.

• Utilize AI tools for rapid prototyping and to enhance cross-functional teamwork.

• Link design decisions to quantifiable results, such as task completion rates, time efficiency, error reduction, and user adoption.

• Report directly to the SVP of Product.

• Partner with Product, Engineering, and accounting specialists.

• Establish direction, mentor the team, and personally design key and ambiguous experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of product design experience in B2B SaaS, with at least 2 years in a managerial role developing designers.

• Strong expertise in UX, interaction design, and information architecture within intricate roles, permissions, and data structures.

• Experience in guiding designers while remaining actively involved in addressing complex design challenges.

• Practical knowledge in designing AI-enabled or automated workflows, exercising sound judgment regarding human oversight and error recovery.

• Hands-on experience employing AI tools in the design process for exploration and prototyping.

• Proven capability in conducting customer research and usability testing that directly informs product strategy.

• Demonstrated success in building or enhancing design systems in collaboration with engineering teams.

• Strong visual judgment with a keen focus on accessibility, content, and quality of implementation.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to persuade senior stakeholders through evidence and logical reasoning.

• Experience in accounting, finance, compliance, or related fields where precision and traceability are critical (bonus).

• Background in integrating multiple products into a shared platform or modernizing legacy software (bonus).

• Proven history of establishing a design practice or fostering research and critique habits within small teams (bonus).

• Familiarity with front-end development to facilitate rapid interaction prototyping and engineering collaboration (bonus).
