Director of Power Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Oversee power projects from the initial planning stage through to construction, testing, commissioning, and final handover.

• Comprehend and manage each phase of the technical process, which includes site assessment, engineering evaluation, cost estimation, permitting, procurement, scheduling, construction, quality assurance, energization, and project closeout.

• Develop project execution strategies and coordinate efforts among engineering teams, procurement, field crews, subcontractors, utility representatives, and clients.

• Review blueprints, scopes of work, technical specifications, construction methodologies, and project requirements prior to the commencement of work.

• Proactively identify technical risks, constructability challenges, resource requirements, and scheduling conflicts early in the process.

• Ensure that field teams are equipped with the necessary labor, equipment, materials, permits, and technical information to carry out the work effectively.

• Track project milestones, productivity, safety, quality, budget, and timeline, taking corrective measures as necessary.

• Seek and capitalize on new opportunities within the power and utility sector.

• Cultivate robust relationships with utilities, developers, EPC contractors, engineering firms, and other industry stakeholders.

• Engage with clients to understand forthcoming projects, technical requirements, budgets, and schedules.

• Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to formulate scopes, pricing, timelines, and technical proposals.

• Take part in bids, RFPs, contract negotiations, presentations, and discussions.

• Assess opportunities based on technical viability, operational capacity, risk, profit margins, and strategic alignment.

• Maintain insight into the sales pipeline and assist in transitioning awarded work from business development to operations.

• Enhance existing accounts by delivering exceptional results and identifying additional services or project opportunities.

• Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and strategic partnership discussions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in leading large-scale Distribution, Transmission, Substation, or utility infrastructure projects.

• Demonstrated expertise in managing construction operations, field organizations, and multiple concurrent projects.

• Experience in leading Project Managers, Construction Managers, and field leadership teams.

• Strong knowledge of utility construction practices and project delivery methodologies.

• Excellent Business Development capabilities.
