Director of Partnerships

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Execute all responsibilities in alignment with States United’s core values of integrity, inclusion, collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

• Collaborate with organizational leadership to establish and maintain strategic partnerships with organizations, associations, coalitions, and civic leaders dedicated to safeguarding free and fair elections, upholding the rule of law, and supporting democratic institutions.

• Cultivate and sustain relationships with state officials, their teams, and advisors.

• Create engagement strategies for key states and partners; organize outreach activities, including briefings, roundtables, and convenings as required.

• Spearhead collaboration across internal teams to furnish partners and key stakeholders with pertinent resources through briefings, coalition meetings, and tailored outreach.

• Oversee and coordinate the cross-departmental requirements for conference and event strategy and execution, including sponsorship opportunities, staffing arrangements, and preparation.

• Monitor and assess national and state policy, partner, and political developments that relate to the initiatives of States United and our clients.

• Represent States United in 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) coalition environments alongside national and state organizations.

• Act as a principal external representative at meetings, briefings, conferences, and various events.

• Draft and refine materials for States United leadership, including talking points, memos, and other resources.

• Support other facets of external affairs as necessary.

• Supervise members of the Strategy and Partnerships team.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.

• At least 12 years of experience in political engagement, partnerships, government relations, or campaign management.

• Proven experience in building and nurturing relationships with public officials and senior-level staff, as well as candidates and campaign teams.

• Strong knowledge of state government and/or electoral systems.

• Experience in managing partnerships or coalitions.

• Excellent communication and relationship management skills.

• Skilled project manager with a track record of overseeing a team managing multiple tasks, optimizing resources, and adhering to timelines.

• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.

• Willingness and capacity to work beyond standard hours, including weekends and/or more than 40 hours a week when necessary.

• Exhibit a positive demeanor, concern for individuals and community, confidence, common sense, and effective listening skills.

• Experience navigating politically sensitive environments.

• Must be willing to travel frequently, including up to 40-50% of the time during peak quarters.
